I never understood why Reading Buses chose to sell off these buses and not the examples from Eastbourne Buses, especially as the examples from Eastbourne are not low-floor vehicles. I wonder if it is a case of either some one forgot to mention the Eastbourne examples to Ensignbus or maybe there was a deal that Ensignbus agreed to take 6 and these were some how deemed surplus!

The Optare Excel has almost vanished from Reading, the MK2 examples remain. Optare has become a less familiar sight in Reading and the Scania vehicles have made a big impact across all services.

The very first Scania to be used in Reading with a 4 digit fleetnumber, these vehicles have made a big impact and helped to improve the services.

This livery was perhaps better on single deck buses,it was eventually phased out and replaced with silver instead.

Unlike the remaining Leyland Titans, the former London MCW Metrobuses do have opening front windows on the upper deck. Maybe the windows were a better design. Few former London Metrobuses lost their windows as opposed to virtually all the Titans!

I don't see why these vehicles were not sold to Ensignbus instead of 731-6 which are quite a bit younger and low floor versions! Maybe we will never know!!

Reading Buses exchanged 10 Excels for 6 Spectras from Eastbourne Buses. Over recent years there have been new low floor Spectras bought. Reading Buses sold some of the Low Floor Spectras and kept the ones with the step- entrance. I wonder what the reason was,it makes no sense to me!!
